Small Costs You Might See

A duplicate title from your state motor vehicle agency usually costs a modest fee (often $5–$25 depending on the state). Some states charge a small fee for release-of-liability filings. These go to your state, not the charity, and are usually worth it to complete a clean transfer.

Fees That Are Red Flags

Be cautious of any donation program charging 'processing fees,' 'administrative deductions,' or tow charges passed to the donor. Ask directly: 'Will I pay anything, ever?' The answer should be no.
